The Title Tag

by

The title tag is the most important piece of SEO Real Estate on a page. It has real power to get you higher in search results, but that’s not its only value or use. Once you get your result shown on a results page, you need people, to click on it. Many SEO Companies stuff the title with keywords making it look un-natural and often too long. In order to get people to click on the link it should be clean and read naturally. It should be close to but no longer than 65 characters so that it is not truncated and that the whole title is visible and readable to the user

It should start with keywords and not brand names as search engines value words at the beginning more then those at the end. Brand names are not what you want to rank by you probably already rank well for your own brand names; it’s the keywords we want to rank, the ones that are going to bring in search engines users.

The title and description are different in length and use and importance, it should tell the user what the page is about. After the user sees the title they may read the description to reassure themselves they have the right result. The Description Tag should be as close to but no more than 150 characters long; it should give the users a quick idea of the sites purpose and content and be keyword rich. Remember you want people to click on the link, not just be displayed, Keep both description and title clean and readable, they must make sense, they must not close to but not more than their limits and obviously they can not be the same.
